Lightning*GIZEMO COWICHAN SWEATER
Lightning*GIZEMO COWICHAN SWEATER
The origins of the Cowichan sweater date back to the late 19th century, and it was named after the Cowichan Tribes in British Columbia, Canada. The Cowichan Tribes were one of the indigenous tribes in the area and were known for making high-quality wool clothing.
Gizemo has collaborated with Lightning, a well-known Japanese retro magazine media. This year is the 30th anniversary of Lightning, and this sweater is sold as a special edition. It was inspired by a red sweater that Mr. Matsushima, the editor-in-chief of Llightning, received from a retro shop in the United States. This sweater has a striking pattern of USN anchors and battleships, and it should be a private product from a very early era. Mr. Matsushima wanted to present this red sweater in the COWICHAN SWEATER style.
Unfortunately, in Japan, due to production process and factory cooperation issues, it has not been realized.
At a retro exhibition in Lianping, Matsushima met GIZEMO and saw the thunderbird sweater we made before. He came up with the idea of giving this navy sweater to us to make. In the end, it was sold in Japan as a special cooperation item for the 30th anniversary of "Lightning" magazine. This is also the first time that "Llightning" has collaborated with a Chinese brand. This sweater uses the classic Cowichan style, Australian wool, pure hand-woven, and uses a Japanese universal brass zipper. This sweater combines military style and retro elements, making it a rare item.
COWICHAN Classic Zippered Sweater Style
The Cowichan sweater is hand-woven and available in zippered and pullover versions.
It provided a source of income for the indigenous people in the early days and gradually became a specialty product. Known for its excellent warmth and durability. These sweaters provide excellent warmth in cold climates due to the use of thick wool yarn. They are also favored for their durability and can withstand severe cold environments and frequent use, making them an ideal choice for outdoor activities and winter fashion. Over time, the Cowichan sweater has gradually transcended the boundaries of the indigenous community and become a fashion and cultural icon in Canada and around the world. This sweater has attracted the attention of many people with its unique design and handmade craftsmanship, becoming a fashion choice that pursues originality and historical significance. They are not only loved in winter outdoor activities, but also have an impact in the fashion and cultural circles and have become a part of Canadian culture.
