If the M-43 field jacket is the beginning of the standard fourth-generation jacket, then the M-51 is its evolution. Although it experienced a brief M-50 wave during the period, the M-51 jacket has been relatively stable in its 10-year history from 1951 to 1965. Compared with the M-43 and the subsequent M-65, it is a link between the past and the future, and from this we can see the evolution of military uniforms.

Most people understand the name M-51 as the M-5lparka fishtail coat. In fact, the M-51 field jacket was a product of the same period. At that time, in order to cope with colder combat environments, the M-51 system included PARKA coats, field jackets, wool linings, wolf hair hoods, and combat pants and other equipment. As the successor of the M-43, the M-51 retains the classic 4-pocket design, and adds zippers and snap buttons to make it more practical.

The zipper is the highlight and threshold of a high-end replica product. An early version of the M-51 jacket zipper. A very classic style, the aluminum color No. 10 CONAMR zipper. We used old-fashioned craftsmanship this time, hand-assembled by Japanese craftsmen, and used pure cotton webbing to rigorously restore this collectible M-51 jacket. We have never compromised on the details of the zipper. This kind of retro zipper is incomparable to ordinary domestic brands such as IDEAL, TALON, and YKK. Naturally, the price difference is close to 8-10 times, but experienced enthusiasts understand the meaning of this. .

Original style CONMAR zipper (imported from Japan)
Historically, in the early 11448 contract of the M-51 jacket, the zippers were No. 10 aluminum color CONMAR. At that time, pure cotton webbing CONMAR retro zippers were used, which are extremely rare.

The M-51 inherits the M-43's classic four large chest pocket structure, petternB loose fit, 9 ounce weight cotton satin fabric, 55 ounce fine canvas lining, placket equipped with No. 10 zipper, metal four snap buttons, fabric color changed to OG-107. Compared with the M-43, the biggest improvement of the M-51 is actually the addition of zippers and metal snap buttons, which are more convenient and durable than button fixation. The design of the liner can be layered and disassembled, which improves the integrity compared to the single-wear liner of the M43.

When talking about the M-5I jacket, Elvis Presley is naturally indispensable. He often wore an M-5I jacket during his service, and people later talked about it. What he is wearing is an early version of the M-51 jacket, which has a three-piece splicing structure on the side.

M-51 jackets are generally divided roughly into early versions and later versions by structure
Early version features are:
1. The size is relatively half a size too large.
2. The side of the clothes has a three-piece splicing structure.
3. Sewing the lining hem to the outer fabric
4. There is no stand-up collar structure under the collar.
5. Use a medium thickness woolen cloth for pockets
6. The buttons are the same as the M-51 windbreaker, reddish brown flat buttons

Features of later versions are:
1. The size is normal, but it will be smaller than the earlier version.
2. The side of the clothes has a two-piece splicing structure, similar to the M-65
3. The lining hem and the outer fabric are not sewn together.
4. Add a stand-up collar structure under the collar
5. Use a cotton white cloth for pockets
6. The buttons are the same as those of the M-65 jacket, and also have high-gloss surfaces. Changes from the early and later versions of the M-51. In fact, the later versions already show some details of the M-65.
