P-41 USMC HBT

HBT is the abbreviation of HERRINGBONE-TWILL, which means herringbone twill. Just like its name, the texture of this weave is very fishbone, with "V" overlapping and arranged, and the two adjacent rows are in opposite directions (there are also similar weaves, which will be discussed later). It is also translated as "herringbone pattern". The origin of HBT can be traced back to the late 19th century and the early 20th century. In 1908, the United States distributed denim fabrics as work clothes. At that time, the fabrics used in the United States were mainly denim and cotton. On April 3, 1941, ARMY finalized the new HBT, which was widely used in the field of work clothes and uniforms. The design and structure of this fabric make it wear-resistant and durable. During World War II, HBT clothing was more widely used. Due to its durability, breathability and comfort, it became one of the common uniforms.

P41 is the first generation of HBT jackets of the USMC during World War II. At that time, the uniform system generally only had specification labels, and many did not have names. The label can be simply understood as the archive of this clothing. It contains some details, materials, version, purpose, etc. It is called P41 because it was finalized in 1941. P41 is also one of the most representative clothes of the USMC in World War II. It has four metal buttons on the front with the words U.S. MARINE CORPS on it, and the color is mostly bronze. There is a rounded pocket on the chest with a USMC pattern printed on it, and there is a pocket on each side below. The color of HBT fabric is mostly gray-green, which is different from the ARMY P43, which has a distinct gray color. Here is another interesting discovery. Many people think that the HBT they are talking about is the same weaving method and that the herringbone pattern is the same specification.

The contract number of the P41 reproduced by GIZEMO is 44777. The original contract was found by the manufacturer through the World War II contract database as SROSENBLOOMINC, and the signing date was MAY291944. The contract was signed on May 29, 1944, and the contract was completed in October of the same year. The original P41 jackets of that year generally had a mimeograph mark on the inside of the collar, and most of them only had the size mimeograph number. It is rare to preserve the mimeograph mark with a clear mark.
