USMC P-41 TROUSERS UTILITY HBT
HBT is the abbreviation of HERRINGBONE-TWILL, which translates to herringbone twill. Just like its name, the texture of this weave is very similar to fishbone, with "V" overlapping and arranged, and the two adjacent rows are in opposite directions (there are also similar weaves, which will be discussed later), which is also translated as "herringbone pattern". The origin of HBT can be traced back to the late 19th century and the early 20th century. In 1908, the United States distributed denim fabrics as work clothes. At that time, the fabrics used in the United States were mainly denim and cotton. On April 3, 1941, ARMY finalized the new HBT, which was widely used in the field of work clothes and uniforms. The design and structure of this cloth make it wear-resistant and durable. During World War II, HBT clothing was more widely used. Due to its durability, breathability and comfort, it became one of the common uniforms.
USMCP41 represents the design concept of uniforms in the early 1940s. They were designed and finalized in 1941. In the 1930s and early 1940s, it was the embryonic stage of uniform design at that time. The P41 bottoms can be seen in the shadow of 1930s workwear, including the tailoring and pocket design. It has four pockets like jeans. The official definition name is multi-purpose trousers, UTILITY, used as daily work clothes for USMC. Due to the unique texture structure of HBT herringbone pattern, it has better strength and durability than ordinary plain fabrics, and the pattern design is loose, which is very comfortable to wear and has better breathability than denim. The actual use experience is very good, so a large number of them were distributed during that period.
The P41 tops and bottoms produced by GIZEMO this time are restored according to the original pattern and details. The weaving method is analyzed by disassembling the fabrics of the original collection. It is made of American Supima long-staple cotton yarn. The high-quality cotton ensures the softness of the fabric after aging. The metal buttons are specially molded according to the style of that year and the color is bronze. Professional photography lights are used on the commercial photography model stand. Due to the unique weaving method of HBT's herringbone pattern and the use of Supima long-staple cotton, the luster brought by high-quality cotton is reflected under strong light. Under normal sunlight, it presents the texture of Figure 2. After using it for a period of time, this P41 of GIZEMO will have a natural sense of aging.
